My journey began with a personal struggle. I studied law at the UvA with a master’s degree in corporate law and led a successful legal career and a vibrant life. Out of nowhere, I was suddenly faced with a challenge that tested my self-confidence: my hair started falling out after giving birth to my first child because I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. My doctors at the hospital told me that I had to accept this and the dermatologist could do nothing for me. Because the medication caused my hair to go from the growth phase to the shedding phase. The experience of hair loss, together with the uncertainty and frustration that came with it, was heavy and disruptive. In a world where appearance is so often used as a yardstick, I found myself lost and vulnerable. I could live with pain in every joint and switch from one medication to another, but I absolutely did not want to lose my hair. With tears in my eyes, I begged the doctors to find a solution for me. Unfortunately, there was none and I did not want to use minoxidil either.

Determined to find a solution to regain control, I decided to start an intensive search for answers. With determination and a deep-rooted desire to improve my situation, I started experimenting with different ingredients and formulas myself. I took over a product development company and together we started creating formulas from scratch. I started an Instagram account and asked other women if they wanted to be test subjects for each formula we created together. With each batch I saw beautiful results with the other women but unfortunately my hair loss would not stop. I became even more frustrated and almost gave up 3 years later and at batch/formula 5. I thought I just have to accept that I have chronic hair loss and nothing can work. But I couldn't give up and I didn't want to give up because I noticed during those years that not only I suffered from it but so many other women. And those women had hope in me that I would be a solution for them. The trust that these women had in me motivated me to continue. I had to drastically change the formula and add more ingredients. The result was nothing short of remarkable my baby number six was born:

My products are named after my first daughter Amber Lujaine because without her I would never have made a career switch. This was my calling to be of significance to men and women who struggle with hair loss. Because I know better than anyone how much stress that can give you. I wanted to have an effective product that makes the hair fuller, thicker and healthier and that can give strength and self-confidence to others who also feel insecure about their hair.
